Dorothy Elizabeth (Parton) Stephens, 86, went to be with the Lord on October 2, 2018. She was a resident of Franklin.
</p>
<p>
She was born on April 16, 1932 in Nancy, Kentucky, the daughter of Arnold and Nellie (Gaddis) Parton. Dorothy married Charles Stephens on June 25, 1949. He preceded her in passing in 1995. She is survived by her loving children, Ricky Stephens, Debra (Mike) Newton, Donna Schelske, Mike Stephens and Darlena (Rick) Coy. Also surviving are seventeen grandchildren, several great grandchildren; brother, Vernie (Marilyn) Parton and sister, Jacqueline Parton. She was preceded in passing by her parents; husband, Charles; brothers, Dayton, Glenn and Winford Parton; sons, Jimmy Dale Stephens in 1951 and Johnny Allen Stephens in 1971; daughter-in-law, Nancy Stephens and son-in-law, Ron Schelske.

Dorothy was employed by the Indiana Masonic Home as a Nurse’s Aide for twenty years.
</p>
<p>
Dorothy was a faithful Christian and member of Mt. Zion Assembly Church in Franklin. She loved her church and loved Ermol and Dorothy Blackwell who served the church for 40 years and Steve and Linda Demaree whom have all been so important to her through her walk of life.
</p>
<p>
Her greatest enjoyment was sitting on her porch with her children and grandchildren and sharing her passion of reminiscing about the good old days. Her family was everything to her and she loved them so much. She enjoyed working in her yard and loved to travel with her best friend, Lucile Gaddis to Kentucky.
</p>
<p>
Revs. Steve and Linda Demaree will conduct a celebration of Dorothy’s life on Saturday, October 6, at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Zion Assembly Church, 201 E. Madison Street, Franklin, Indiana 46131. Friends may call on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to time of service at the church. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood, Indiana.
