Daniel Lee "Dan" Murray, 81, passed away peacefully at his residence in Franklin on October 25, 2018.
</p>
<p>
He was born on May 6, 1937 in Johnson County to Harold Lee Murray and Dorthy (Traub) Murray. Dan married Rita R. (Sefton) Murray on February 14, 1960. She lovingly survives. Dan is also survived by their children, David Lee (Mary) Murray and Elizabeth Ann (Jim) Mudd; four grandchildren, Becca (Tyler) Cooper, Donald (Kacie) Murray, Addie Mudd, and Danny Mudd; and two great-grandchildren, Mallory and Annie Murray. Also surviving is one brother, John David Murray. He was preceded in passing by his parents, and one brother, Richard Paul Murray.

He was a graduate of Franklin High School and attended Purdue and Franklin College. He served in the Army Reserve.
</p>
<p>
Dan was a land surveyor. In his early years he worked for Freese &amp; Abplanalp. In 1999, he retired from Franklin Engineering after forty years of dedicated service.
</p>
<p>
He was a member of the Franklin Elks Lodge No. 1818 where he served as past Exalted Ruler. Dan was a 58 year member of the Franklin Masonic Lodge No. 107 F&amp;AM. He also was a member of the Professional Land Surveying Organization. From 2008-2010 Dan was a member of the City of Franklin Board of Public Works. Dan enjoyed family vacations annually in Michigan and was an avid golfer.

Rev. Evie Staurd will conduct a celebration of Dan’s life on Tuesday, October 30th, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 N. Morton Street (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Friends may call on Tuesday, from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Military Honors will be conducted by the Franklin American Legion Post No. 205 and the United States Army following the service.
