Roncalli football falls to nemesis Cathedral

<p>INDIANAPOLIS</p><p>In the 18th meeting between Roncalli and its city rival Cathedral , the Fighting Irish defeated the Rebels, 30-10.</p><p>The Rebels (3-7) began the game by scoring the first 10 points. Senior fullback Andrew Lockard ran for a 49-yard rushing touchdown, the only one of the game for the Rebels and his first of the season. Then, junior kicker Owen Herndon hit a 31-yard field goal to give the Rebels a 10-0 lead with 7:14 left in the half.</p><p>The Fighting Irish (6-5) then scored 30 unanswered points. Most of those 30 points were scored by senior running back Chon’Dre Cissell, who rushed for 75 yards and scored three touchdowns. The other touchdown was scored by junior quarterback Orin Edwards.</p>[sc:text-divider text-divider-title="Story continues below gallery" ]Click here to purchase photos from this gallery<p>For the 39 seniors on the Rebels roster, their season ends here. Head coach Scott Marsh is proud of his departing players despite a down year.</p><p>“The seniors have been part of a state championship team as sophomores,” Marsh said. “A really good team last year that lost on this field. This year, this group went through a lot that people on the outside don’t even know.”</p><p>One of the seniors that stood out was Lockard.</p><p>“Andrew is just a tremendous player,” Marsh said. “He’s going to make a college very happy.”</p><p>The Fighting Irish move onto the sectional final at Decatur Central next Friday.</p>
