On Thursday, December 13, 2018, Gail Chaney passed peacefully from this life at the age of 70 to be with his Lord and Savior. He was born on October 8, 1948 to Retha (Price) Chaney and James Carter Chaney in Franklin, Indiana.
</p>
<p>
Gail was a kind soul who was so devoted to our Lord that he had begun studying Hebrew to read the Old Testament in its original language. Gail attended Whiteland High School in Whiteland, Indiana, and worked as a professional framing carpenter for 30 years. He joined Amtrak on July 1, 1983 as a carman and worked at the Beech Grove, Indiana facility until his retirement in 2003. Gail was married to Patricia (Fitzgerald) Chaney on August 3, 1973 and enjoyed 45 years of marriage.

He was a dedicated fan of his brother, Harold’s bluegrass music on the Dobro and especially enjoyed listening to country music greats including George Jones, Hank Williams, Sr. and Conway Twitty. Gail was also a lifelong car enthusiast, and fan of the Indianapolis Colts and IU Basketball.

He is survived by his wife, Pat, and children, Rebecca (Ed) Runkel, William (Angela) Miller, Rhonda (Mike) O’Leary, and Kimberley (Joshua) Fountain; and his sister, Wanda Eaton of Pompano Beach, Florida. Pa’s greatest joy was spending time making memories with his grandchildren, Megan, Morgan, and Maci Runkel; Mackenzie O’Leary; Dalton, Ellie, and Averie Hockersmith; and Ruby Malone.

Gail was preceded in passing by his parents, Retha and Cart Chaney, his sister, Betty Erp and brother, Harold Chaney.
</p>
<p>
A visitation will be held from 2-6 p.m., on Sunday, December 16th, at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory Greenwood Chapel, 481 West Main Street, Greenwood, Indiana. A celebration of Gail’s life will be held on Monday, December 17th at 2 p.m. at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Services, officiated by Rev. Phillip Curtis and Rev. Daniel Koenig. Immediately following will be graveside services at Greenwood Cemetery at 620 West Main Street in Greenwood.
