2 arrested, 1 at-large after car chase, foot pursuit

<p>Two people were arrested and police are still searching for a man after they led multiple local agencies on a car chase in a stolen vehicle early Saturday morning in Bargersville and Greenwood.</p><p>Elena Elizabeth Gaynor, 18, 5430 Sandhurst Drive, Indianapolis, was arrested on charges of auto theft, possession of methamphetamine and resisting law enforcement by fleeing in a vehicle.</p><p>Keri Lee Bare, 29, 5227 S. Illinois Street, Indianapolis, was arrested on charges of resisting law enforcement and possession of paraphernalia.</p>[sc:text-divider text-divider-title="Story continues below gallery" ]<p>One suspect got away during a foot pursuit which followed the car chase. With help from the Greenwood police and Bargersville Community Fire Department, police searched the neighborhood near Dyes Walk Country Club using multiple K9’s and drones, but did not find him. Police know his identity and are searching for him, Bargersville Police Chief Todd Bertram said.</p><p>The incident started when police received a call about a possible residential entry just before 3:30 a.m. Saturday in the 900 block of Arabian Way in Bargersville.</p><p>The caller said two men were seen walking around their house and attempted to break into their garage, according to a Bargersville police report.</p><p>Bertram said the suspects were actually breaking into cars in the area.</p><p>When police arrived, they spotted a black Jeep parked in the middle of the street. Gaynor, the driver, was inside. Officers noticed two men running toward the vehicle, they said. They turned their lights on to initiate a traffic stop, according to the report. The vehicle fled, nearly hitting the patrol car before driving through a yard to get around it, police said.</p><p>The car, which was later determined to be stolen out of Marion County, led police and sheriff’s deputies on a 6-mile chase north on State Road 135, at times reaching speeds of 80 mph, police said. The driver also ran a stop sign during the pursuit.</p><p>Gaynor eventually turned left onto Golfview Drive and then Woodsway Drive before stopping at a dead end. Bare and the other man immediately jumped out of the vehicle and ran from police. Several officers chased the two men on foot, according to the report.</p><p>A sheriff’s deputy shot Bare with a taser gun, which did not work, before tackling him and placing him in handcuffs, a report from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office said.</p><p>Bargersville police arrested Gaynor who stayed in the vehicle.</p><p>She told police she did not know what the men were doing, and didn’t know the vehicle was stolen.</p><p>Police found a baggie filled with methamphetamine in Gaynor’s coat pocket, the report said.</p><p>On Bare, police found a glass pipe used for smoking narcotics, a straw used for smoking narcotics, a flashlight, two black face masks and two knives, according to the report.</p><p>Gaynor is being held at the Johnson County jail on $3,600 bond. Bare is being held at the jail on $2,000 bond.</p>
