Man threatens person with truck, gun

<p>A Franklin man was arrested on Wednesday after he tried to run over a man with his truck, threatened him with a gun and punched him, police said.</p><p>Cody Sutton, 27, 99 W. Adams St., was arrested on charges of intimidation and criminal recklessness, both felonies, and misdemeanor charges of battery and possession of paraphernalia.</p><p>About 7 p.m. Wednesday, Franklin police responded to the 400 block of Main Street where a man said Sutton tried to run him over with a large truck, chased him on foot into a neighbor’s backyard, punched him in his jaw and pulled a gun on him, according to the police report.</p><p>The man said he received a call from Sutton at 6:54 p.m., and Sutton told him, “You took everything from me and I’m coming to kill you,” the report said.</p><p>Sutton was angry because the man “stole his girlfriend,” according to the report.</p><p>The man told police while Sutton was chasing him, Sutton yelled that he brought a gun, the report said. The man also told police he feared for his life.</p><p>When the man asked Sutton what kind of gun he had, Sutton said, “The kind I can kill you with,” the report said.</p><p>Sutton then put the gun away, walked back to his truck and left, the man told police.</p><p>Police found Sutton and arrested him.</p><p>Police didn’t find any weapons on Sutton or in his truck, but they did find a marijuana smoking device in the glove box, the report said.</p><p>Sutton told to police that he confronted the man about stealing his girlfriend, and that he drove toward him in his truck to “make him think I was going to hit him,” the report said.</p><p>He also told police, “Yeah, I punched him. What was I supposed to do?”</p><p>When asked about the firearm, Sutton told police he doesn’t own any guns and denied having one at any point during the altercation.</p><p>Sutton was released from jail on $13,000 bond.</p>
