Man charged in string of robberies, including 2 in county

<p>Several central Indiana police agencies worked together to find and arrest a man they say robbed 10 different stores last month, each time evading arrest.</p><p>Curtis White Jr., 1416 E. Bacon Street, Indianapolis, was arrested Feb. 19 on multiple robbery charges, according to Johnson County court documents.</p><p>Charges were filed in Johnson County on Friday, and in Marion County on Feb. 21.</p><p>White now faces seven robbery charges, six of which were filed in Marion County — five level 3 felonies due to reportedly using a weapon during some of the robberies, and one level 5 felony. He is facing another charge in Johnson County, also a level 5 felony.</p><p>White admitted to robbing a Franklin convenience store Feb. 11, and shared several details of the robbery Franklin police knew to be true from watching the surveillance video and talking with employees, court documents said.</p><p>Employees told police White walked through the store for a short time, then showed a knife and demanded money from the register, a Franklin police report said.</p><p>The suspect got away with $420 in cash, court documents said.</p><p>White also robbed a similar store in Greenwood. He is believed to have committed eight other robberies in Indianapolis, Beech Grove, Shelbyville and Bloomington, police said.</p><p>All six police agencies received the same anonymous tip on Feb. 12, according to court documents.</p><p>Indianapolis police tracked White’s cell phone and located him on Feb. 19 in Indianapolis, court documents said. Police arrested him on unrelated warrants.</p><p>Franklin police interviewed White on Feb. 20. He told police he was struggling with a heroin problem and &quot;went back to my ways,&quot; according to court documents. He decided to rob the Franklin store because he had already robbed a number of stores in Indianapolis, White told Franklin police.</p><p>Police used various forms of media to circulate details about the suspect.
