<p>Girls tennis</p><p><strong>Trojans get past Jasper</strong></p><p>Ninth-ranked Center Grove pulled out a 3-2 win over No. 15 Jasper on Friday. The Trojans got a 6-0, 6-0 victory from Ashlee Fisk at first singles and claimed both doubles points to secure the match. Sapna Vyas and Sydney Plowman prevailed at No. 1, while Hudson Gilstorf and Lauren Dick were winners in the second spot.</p><p><strong>Lancers fall just shy</strong></p><p>Edinburgh was defeated by Waldron, 3-2. Bethany Burton earned a straight-set victory at second singles for the Lancers, who also picked up a point by forfeit at third singles.</p><p>Baseball</p><p><strong>Trojans blank Roncalli</strong></p><p>Ben Murphy allowed just one hit over five innings of work as Class 4A No. 5 Center Grove rolled past Roncalli, 10-0, on Friday. Mitchell Evans went 3 for 3 with a home run and five RBIs for the Trojans (10-1), while Drew Culbertson also went deep and drove in three. Grant Sawa and Matthew Sauter contributed two hits apiece and Sam Griffith knocked in a pair of runs.</p><p>Softball</p><p><strong>Royals crush Covenant</strong></p><p>Roncalli dominated Covenant Christian in a 20-0 rout on Friday. Keagan Rothrock and Caroline Leister combined to strike out 12 in the circle for the Class 4A No. 1 Royals (12-0), while Gabbie Evans had a grand slam and five RBIs to lead the way at the plate.</p><p>Track and field</p><p><strong>Jefferson breaks 3,200 record</strong></p><p>Whiteland’s Will Jefferson shattered his own school record in the 3,200-meter run on Friday, running an 8:56.15 during the Carmel Showcase to best his previous standard by more than 20 seconds. According to MileSplit, Jefferson’s time is the ninth-best high school time in the nation this year.</p><p><strong>Grizzly Cubs win Bill Self titles</strong></p><p>Host Franklin won its Bill Self Invitational for the first time, taking both the girls and boys crowns late Thursday night.</p><p>The boys scored 146.33 points to finish ahead of Batesville (128.5) and Perry Meridian (128). Finishing first for the Grizzly Cubs were Gavin Wilson (110 and 300 hurdles), Ethan Pheifer (800), Jacob Wagner (shot put), and the 4×800 meter relay.</p><p>On the girls side, Brooke Coffman took both hurdles races and the high jump, and Lillian Lacy was first in the 800 and 1,600. Franklin also won the 4×100 and 4×400 relays and got individual victories from Cami Kelsay (100), Lauren Klem (3,200) and Jaclyn Boardman (pole vault).</p><p>Miscellany</p><p><strong>Ray, Sauer returning to IHSAA roles</strong></p><p>Franklin’s Ava Ray and Center Grove’s Raef Sauer, both juniors who are currently serving on the IHSAA’s Student Advisory Committee, will be returning as senior members for the 2021-22 school year, the organization announced Friday. The two are among nine members of the Class of 2022 on the committee.</p>
