More homes planned near Freedom Park

<p>A developer with communities throughout central Indiana and Johnson County, including one in Greenwood, wants to build another smaller subdivision near Freedom Park, on the city’s southwest side.</p><p>Lennar Homes, a Miami, Fla.-based developer, wants to build 66 new homes on about 32.5 acres off Cutsinger Road, south of Freedom Park, northeast of Arbor’s Cherry Tree Walk subdivision, and east of a new fire station that will be constructed later this year, according to city documents. It will include more than two homes per acre.</p><p>The development, dubbed McCormick Estates, passed both the city’s technical review committee and planning commission unanimously due to the property already being zoned for residential. It is currently farmland.</p><p>The city is asking that the developer also make improvements to Cutsinger Road in front of the subdivision, and re-align the road to straighten a curve near the east side of the property, which Lennar has committed to, city documents said.</p>[sc:text-divider text-divider-title="Story continues below gallery" ]Click here to purchase photos from this gallery<p>The company has one other subdivision in Greenwood. Houses in the South Lake community near the Worthsville Road and Interstate 65 interchange range in price from $245,000 to $293,000, according to its website.</p><p>The new subdivision will also be located in the Clark-Pleasant school district.</p><p>At full build out, it is expected to bring an additional 165 people to the area. That estimate is based on 2.5 people living in each home.</p>
