Man sentenced to prison after jury conviction of child seduction

<p>A man was sentenced to a year in prison and about a year and a half of probation after a jury convicted him of two Level 6 felonies, including child seduction, in a jury trial.</p><p>Jeramey A. Butler was convicted by jury trial on May 15 of child seduction and dissemination of materials harmful to a minor, both level 6 felonies, from an incident that happened in a Greenwood home in December 2016.</p><p>Johnson County Circuit Court Judge Andrew Roesener sentenced him to 365 days in prison for the child seduction charge. Butler was credited for 28 days in prison, according to court records. He was also sentenced to 545 days of probation for the charge of dissemination of materials harmful to a minor. He must also register as a sex offender for the next 10 years. The sentences will run consecutive to each other, according to court records.</p><p>The court also ordered special probation conditions for adult sex offenders, in addition to typical probation orders.</p><p>A jury convicted Butler of both charges last month stemming from the incident.</p><p>Butler, then 35, showed a 17-year-old a video on a pornographic website, told her she could make money if she did pornographic movies and then performed a sexual act on her. He was arrested in September 2017 and had bonded out of jail until his trial last month.</p><p>Prosecuting attorneys presented evidence at his trial that included DNA evidence that proved the sexual act had been performed on her and evidence that showed he had searched for specific pornographic movies on his cell phone to show the teen.</p><p>He was taken into custody after the verdict.</p>
