<p><strong>LOCAL NEWS</strong></p><p>Bicyclist recovering after colliding with van</p><p>A teenager was taken to the hospital after her bicycle collided with a minivan on a county road.</p><p>A 16-year-old Franklin girl was riding her bicycle in the 1700 block of East 400 North on Friday afternoon when the driver of a van honked her horn to warn the teen a car was approaching, but startled the bicyclist causing her to swerve and collide with it, according to a report from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.</p><p>The girl was taken to Johnson Memorial Hospital to be treated for her injuries. She has since been released, a hospital spokesperson said Monday morning.</p><p>The driver told deputies she was driving westbound about 3:20 p.m. Friday on East 400 North when she came up on a bicyclist. She said she honked her horn to let her know she was passing, but the bicyclist swerved and crashed into the passenger side of the van. The driver immediately jumped out of the van with it still in drive, causing it to continue west down the road and coast off to the side before stopping, the report said.</p><p>Deputies said the driver was visually upset, but not impaired, according to the report.</p><p>The teen complained of pain in several areas, including her head, neck, back and arm.</p>
