Franklin man killed in moped crash

<p>A Franklin man was killed after a vehicle struck his moped early Friday.</p>
<p>Matthew Aaron Frye, 50, of Franklin was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident occurred about 6 a.m. in the 5700 block of U.S. 31 in Franklin, near the Hilltop Motel.</p>
<p>Frye was driving a moped southbound in the right lane when the driver behind him switched lanes. A second driver then switched lanes but didn’t see the moped driver and struck him, according to a news release from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.</p>
<p>Frye was traveling to his job just south of the accident site. The driver who struck Frye wasn’t speeding and alcohol wasn’t involved, according to the news release.</p>
<p>The driver who struck Frye wasn’t injured, but was taken to Johnson Memorial Hospital for a blood draw. The driver is not facing charges and cooperated with investigators, Sheriff Duane Burgess said.</p>
<p>Amity Fire Department and Seals Ambulance Service also responded, the news release said.</p>
