Post Office gets ready for Operation Santa

The U.S. Postal Service is having its Operation Santa program for this season, which was established 107 years ago to help families and children in need during the holidays.

The goal is to provide a channel in which people can help children and families at Christmas through the thousands of letters that are sent to Santa through the post office each year. Some letters seek clothing and shoes and other basic necessities while others ask help for loved ones.

Individuals and organizations may adopt letters to Santa online at the website.USPSOperationSanta.com this year. Although the adoption of the letter takes place online, individuals must go to the post office that offers a “Label Broker” on-site service to send the gift.
