Johnson County unemployment rate lowest since September

<p>The Johnson County unemployment rate dipped to 2.4 percent to end the year, its lowest rate since September.</p><p>In December, just 10 of 92 Indiana counties had a higher percentage of its work-eligible populace employed. The December jobless rate in Johnson County is down from the November mark of 2.6 percent.</p><p>The state of Indiana also saw the same decrease, going from a 3.2 percent unemployment rate in November to a 3 percent rate in December.</p><p>The Johnson County unemployment rate is down from December 2018, when 2.7 percent of the Johnson County workforce was unemployed. Fewer than 2,000 people of Johnson County’s workforce of more than 81,000 people in Johnson County were jobless in December.</p><p>This data comes from the December report released by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.</p><p>Vermillion County in western Indiana had the highest unemployment rate last month at 5 percent, while Dubois County in southern Indiana had the lowest at 2 percent.</p>
