<p>
Jim grew up in Bloomington and graduated from Bloomington High School, class of ’68. After high school, Jim served in the United States Army in Germany and Korea during the Vietnam War. He then worked for Johnson County REMC for 35 years as a training and safety engineer. Jim was especially proud of setting standards to keep the linemen safe on their job. Jim was a big Indy 500 fan, sitting in the Pittman seats throughout two generations and over 30 years. During his retirement, he was building an HO model train yard of 1950’s Bloomington, and he also brewed craft beer and was quite good at it. He was an arborist, and he golfed with friends whom he had known from as long ago as high school. Jim took great pride in watching his daughter fulfill her dream of obtaining a PhD in Chemistry. Jim also took great pride in his nieces, Shawntel Hyde and Summer Rizzi, who gave him five wonderful grandchildren. He adored watching their sports and school accomplishments.
