Franklin College Day of Giving set for next week

<p>Despite the shuttering of in-person gatherings, Franklin College’s annual Day of Giving will take place on April 16.</p><p>The eighth-annual Day of Giving will include a 24-hour fundraising effort that will be promoted on social media, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, as well as by email and other college communication methods, according to a Franklin College news release.</p><p>The efforts, marked using the #GivetoGRIZ hashtag, will help support the college’s Franklin Fund, which provides tuition assistance to students who need it. The money raised will also help fund the college’s web-based conferencing system for remote learning, cleaning supplies for the campus and other student needs, according to the news release.</p><p>The college hopes to raise $150,000 during the Day of Giving. Reaching that goal will unlock an additional $50,000 from donors who have already pledged money toward the Day of Giving challenge goals, the news release said.</p><p>Last year, the college had its most successful Day of Giving to date, collecting $165,288 from 1,012 donors, according to the news release.</p>
