Four seriously injured in head on crash

<p>An automobile crash Friday night on State Road 144 just past the Johnson County line left four people seriously injured and one of the vehicles hanging over the side of a bridge.</p><p>The names of those involved with the crash have not been released and the accident report was not yet finalized at press time.</p><p>According to the Bargersville Community Fire Department, the head-on collision was reported at around 9 p.m. Friday involving a car, a pick-up truck and an SUV on State Road 144, just west of State Road 37.</p><p>The accident left the SUV with its rear wheels hanging off the side of a bridge over the White River. Two of the vehicles were mangled, and firefighters had to extricate the occupants, said Mike Pruitt, assistant chief of Bargersville Community Fire Department.</p><p>One person trapped in this vehicle took firefighters about one hour to free, due to the heat and the logistics of conducting an extrication on a bridge, Pruitt said.</p><p>Bargersville Community Fire Department, which recently entered into a contract to serve Harrison Township in Morgan County, led the rescue with mutual aid from Morgan County EMS, Madison Township, White River Township, Mooresville and Brown Township fire departments.</p><p>Four were transported to area hospitals. Three were ground transported by Morgan County EMS with serious injuries, with one individual airlifted by LifeLine helicopter, Pruitt said.</p><p>This story will be updated when more information is available.</p>
