Ruth Dorrel, age 84, died Tuesday, September 15, 2020, in Franklin, Indiana. She was born January 26, 1936, in Perry County, Indiana, to William Ross and Elmeda Thomas Lathom. They later welcomed sons Richard Thomas (Everett, Washington) and William Harold (deceased).

Ruth graduated from St. Paul High School and Evansville College. She earned her Master of Library Science degree from Indiana University.
</p>
<p>
In 1961, in St. Paul, Indiana, Ruth married Warren Dorrel. He survives. Other survivors include daughter Marti and son-in-law Brad Schrock (Franklin, Indiana) and granddaughter Maddie Long (Bloomington, Indiana).
</p>
<p>
Ruth worked for the Indiana Historical Society, the Society of Indiana Pioneers and Franklin College. Until earlier this year, she was a volunteer at the Johnson County Museum of History. She lived in Franklin since 2004.
