Michael Gary Wilde, 60, of Greenwood, IN, passed away November 4, 2020 at the Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center where he contracted bacterial pnuemonia, while undergoing chemo for Luekemia. Michael was born September 7, 1960 to Granville &amp; Mary Wilde, in Hamilton, Ontario Canada, after the family left Oldham, England and eventually residing in Sarasota, FL.

Michael joined the United States Navy and was assigned in 1980 to submarines, USS Tecumsah, USS Nathan Hale &amp; USS Henry Clay. Michael served the last 10 years of his military career in San Diego, California, onboard Surface Ships, the guided missile cruiser USS Cowpens and retiring from the USS Bonhomme Richard, a Wasp-class amphibious assault ship, in December 2000.

Michael Gary Wilde married Lisa Ann (Yocum) Wilde April 6, 1991 of Concord, CA before residing in San Diego, CA. He was extremely proud of his son, Blake Chandler Wilde. Blake married Savannah Dean (Shively) Wilde which evolved his greatest joy – the birth of his first grandson, Leland Rockwell Wilde. Michael was also excited about the news of his second grandchild arriving in April 2021.

He enjoyed model railroading, watching baseball, especially the San Diego Padres, irritating his wife with numerous shows of The Big Bang Theory &amp; reruns of all Star Trek Shows, while trying to ignore his wife’s Zumba music generally playing in the background. He will be loving remembered by his in-laws, to create fabulous fires in the fireplace, his bbq skills &amp; rearranging their basement for his large model railroad, so they couldn’t find a thing.

He is survived by his wife, Lisa Ann (Yocum) Wilde, son, Blake (Savannh) Wilde, grandson, Leland Wilde; father-in-law, Karl Yocum; mother-in-law, Lynn Yocum; brother – in-law, Carl Cary Yocum; sister, Janette (Edward) Barber, nieces, nephews and great nieces &amp; nephews.

A celebration of life service will be held outside at 10 AM Saturday November 14 at the Freedom Plaza in The Gardens at Olive Branch Cemetery, 1605 S State Road 135, Greenwood, IN where military rites will be conducted. Arrangements were entrusted to G.H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home.
