Jackson-Davis helps lead Hoosiers to Maui wins

<p>Indiana sophomore men’s basketball player <strong>Trayce Jackson-Davis</strong> led the Hoosiers to two wins at the Maui Invitational, which for safety reasons was relocated to Asheville, North Carolina this year. The former Center Grove player averaged 20 points and 5.7 rebounds in three games, including a career-high 31 points in the Hoosiers’ 79-63 victory over Stanford. He was named to the all-tournament team.</p><p>Jackson-Davis was also one of 50 players on the John R. Wooden Award preseason watch list. The Wooden Award is presented annually to the most outstanding player in men’s college basketball.</p><p><strong>CENTER GROVE</strong></p><p>University of Indianapolis guard <strong>Ben Nicoson</strong> had four points, an assist and steal in the Greyhounds’ 70-69 home loss to William Jewell to open the season. The sophomore also collected two rebounds in a 66-64 loss to Truman.</p><p>Sophomore guard <strong>Spencer Piercefield</strong> scored two points and had five assists and a steal in Indiana Wesleyan’s 112-60 win at Goshen.</p><p>Louisville defensive back <strong>Russ Yeast</strong> finished his team’s 34-27 loss at Boston College with three tackles and a fumble recovery.</p><p>Senior defensive lineman <strong>Jovan Swann</strong> saw action for Indiana and was credited with a quarterback hit in the Hoosiers’ 27-11 victory over Maryland.</p><p>Vanderbilt senior defensive tackle <strong>Cameron Tidd</strong> made a tackle in the team’s 41-0 loss at Missouri.</p><p>The Louisiana football team continued its memorable season, routing Louisiana-Monroe, 70-20, as senior kicker <strong>Nate Snyder</strong> booted a foot-numbing 10 kickoffs for an average of 58.4 yards and two touchbacks. Snyder also made good on his one point-after attempt.</p><p><strong>FRANKLIN</strong></p><p>Ball State sophomore linebacker <strong>Clayton Coll</strong> made four tackles in the Cardinals’ 27-24 win at Toledo.</p><p><strong>WHITELAND</strong></p><p>St. Francis senior guard <strong>Sidney Crowe</strong> had three points, three rebounds and two assists in her team’s 74-64 loss to Lindsey Wilson. The Cougars regrouped by downing Grace College, 65-59, with Crowe scoring nine points.</p><p><strong>INDIAN CREEK</strong></p><p><strong>Jared DeHart</strong> scored 10 points, grabbed three rebounds and had two assists in Bethel’s 84-77 victory over East-West University.</p><p><strong>RONCALLI</strong></p><p>Ball State freshman defensive tackle <strong>John Harris,</strong> a Greenwood resident, made a tackle in the team’s 27-24 win at Toledo.</p>
