<p>

<p>
Edward graduated from Logansport High School in 1945 and then immediately enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He was a WWII veteran, having served in the western Pacific theater in Guam. Edward then earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Indiana University, Bloomington. Edward worked and retired for Uniroyal Corporation in Mishawaka in 1989 after 34 years of service. He was an expert in "Naugahyde" which at the time was inside most automobiles and restaurant seating. He could finger the product and tell you all you wanted to know about that particular ‘coated fabric’! He continued to receive telephone calls from co-workers for the next thirty years. Edward was a very friendly guy; he did not know a stranger.
</p>
<p>
Edward married his wife in 1952 and as recently as several weeks ago when he was ill, continually said it was the "best decision he ever made". He missed her every day after her death. During their lifetimes, they traveled extensively throughout the United States and Canada, Hawaii and the Caribbean. He and his wife were long time active members of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, 915 N Ironwood Dr, South Bend, IN 46615. Edward, along with his wife, was a very supportive parent, attending all the school functions of both children and grandchildren over the years. While his three daughters were obtaining degrees from various universities, he would write them letters signed, "Love, Your Dad"; letters which they still treasure. They were a very social couple and enjoyed dining with friends and attending summer theater.

<p>
Edward was a kind man and would always feed the neighborhood squirrels sugar cookies. He would whistle and they would come running from other yards. Sometimes, they would be waiting for him at the base of the steps. He also was an ardent Cubs fan and we are glad he was able to see them finally win a recent World Series. He attended Cubs games in the summers in both Chicago at Wrigley Field and Cincinnati at the Great American Ball Park.
