Beryl A. (Wolma) Crismore

FRANKLIN, IN.

Beryl A. (Wolma) Crismore departed for her heavenly home on April 10, 2021. Her departure was peaceful at the SRNC at Compass Park in Franklin, IN after a recent short illness.

Those surviving her passing are her husband Francis Elvin "Cris" Crismore of sixty-five plus years of Franklin, IN, their three sons Thomas Web Crismore of St. Pete Beach, FL, James Benton (Lisa) of Brownsburg, IN and William Frank Crismore (Lori) of Raleigh, NC and nine grandchildren Bethany, Jeremy, Sarah, Erin, Stewart, Jordan, Elliott, Austin and Adam. She loved them all.

Beryl was born May 27, 1931 in Indianapolis, Indiana to John and Zora (Webb) Wolma. She attend public school in Indianapolis, IN and graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in 1949. She worked evenings after school to help support her family as her father was in the Veteran’s Hospital for the last part of his life, he passed on December 30, 1950. Soon after his passing, she became the independent and self-reliant person that married "Cris" on July 30, 1955.

Beryl will be missed by her family and the many friends she acquired over her many years of service to her church and community. She served Saint Andrew Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis as both a deacon and an elder as well as serving on numerous committees.

She was an early childhood educator in Saint Andrew Presbyterian Church’s Early Childhood Program, preparing four years olds for kindergarten. She volunteered at the Indiana State Museum for several years in both the old and new museums. While as a member of the Central Indiana Folk Music and Mountain Dulcimer Society and for thirty years, she performed with them in a three state area. She also shared her musical talent with classes at John Campbell Folk School in North Carolina.

She, along with a small group of women produced as weekly TV program "Timothy Church Mouse" in the 1960’s. This was a hand puppet show with a moral theme and was sponsored by the Indianapolis Church Federation. Her communication skills allowed her to serve this group as script writer, production manager as well as a regular puppeteer. One of her scripts was among the group’s favorites, dealing with respect for nature long before it became a popular movement. While this was a local broadcast, their tapes were shared with other stations and were seen as far away as Montana.

Beryl and her husband "Cris" traveled often, starting early with their boys on camping trips. This continued first in tents, later in a travel trailer covering much of central and western states. At trip to Disney World and a stay in the "A" frame hotel brought an end to family camping. Having survived a nearby tornado along with other adventures in a tent made the hotel/motel options appealing. Travel with the boys was a common theme until

her and "Cris’s" twentieth wedding anniversary trip to Hawaii. As their family grew up, trips for two were common as they visited all fifty states and much of Canada, Newfoundland as well as several cruises to different parts of the world.

Chaplain Elaine Clark will conduct a celebration of life memorial service on Friday, April 23, 2021 at 2 PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live-streamed for family and friends to connect at <a href="http://www.swartzmortuary.com/obituary/beryl-crismore">www.swartzmortuary.com/obituary/beryl-crismore</a>. Friends may call Friday April 23, 2021 from 1PM till service time at the mortuary. Facial coverings or mask and social distancing is requested for those attending.
