Morris Allen Plummer

INDIANAPOLIS, IN.

Morris Allen Plummer, 88, of Indianapolis, IN passed away Sunday April 4, 2021 at Life’s Journey of Avon. He was born March 19, 1933 in Clermont, Indiana to Forrest Edgar Plummer and Agnes Louise (Richardson) Plummer. He married the love of his life, Joyce Ann Martin (Plummer) on February 12, 1956 at Old Bethel Church in Indianapolis; she survives.

He was a 1951 graduate of Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis and then entered the United States Navy. He served on a destroyer during the Korean War. He was proud to be a U.S. Veteran. Morris was a lifelong learner. He loved reading historical books and enjoyed traveling to many Civil War and historical sites throughout Indiana and Kentucky. He also did extensive research on his family history and contributed to genealogy books published about the Plummer family. In the early 1990’s he began learning the technical aspects of personal computers and became the expert his family and friends would consult for their computer troubles.

Mr. Plummer was a 30-year Bell System employee. He began his career at Indiana Bell in residential phone installation. Over the years he received many hours of training as telephone systems automated and computerized. His last position was with AT&amp;T where he installed and maintained the phone systems and equipment at Community Hospital East in Indianapolis, IN taking an early retirement in 1984. He later went to work for Leader Electric in Columbus, IN and then finished his working years doing telephone system maintenance on the IUPUI campus.

Survivors include his wife Joyce A. (Martin) Plummer of Indianapolis, IN, son Mark Plummer (Angie) of Plainfield, IN, daughters Linda Reno (Daniel) of Lafayette, IN and Christy Cummins (Gary) of Greenwood, IN, grandchildren Matthew Plummer, Sam Cummins, Andrew Reno, Anna Reno, Jenna Reno and Danielle Garver Stokes, six great grandchildren and a sister Kay Frost (Kenneth) of Carmel, IN. Morris loved his family.

The Reverend Shan Rutherford will conduct a celebration of Morris Plummer’s life on Saturday April 24, 2021 at 3PM at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center 300 South U.S. 31 (Morton Street) in Franklin, IN and will be live-streamed for family and friends to connect at <a href="http://www.swartzmortuary.com/obituary/morris-plummer">www.swartzmortuary.com/obituary/morris-plummer</a>. Facial covering or mask and social distancing is requested for those attending.

Inurnment will take place at Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis, IN.
