Fewer local homes sold last month, compared to the year before, but sales prices were up.
Local home sales were down 12 percent in Johnson County in October, compared to the same time in 2014.
The same was true for most counties across central Indiana, where home sales were down 15 percent on average, according to a report from Indianapolis real estate firm F.C. Tucker Co.
Only two counties in central Indiana — Hancock and Shelby — had an increase in sales last month, the report said.
But home sales are still up for the year, compared to 2014. In Johnson County, sales are up nearly 7 percent for the year so far.
And the price that homes are selling for also is up, reaching an average of $174,372 last month. That’s up 5 percent from October 2014, the report said.
Across central Indiana, the price of homes sold was up 4 percent to $184,637.
“Declines in the fourth quarter of the housing market should be expected, but there are several other factors impacting the overall picture of October,” Jim Litten, president of F.C. Tucker Co. said in a news release.
