Dwayne E. Martin

NINEVEH

Dwayne E. Martin, 55, of Nineveh, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2015, at Franciscan St. Francis Health-Indianapolis.

He was born Jan. 18, 1960, in Liberty, Kentucky, to Ottis and Nellie (Ellison) Martin. He married Cathy J. (Wilson) Martin on June 7, 1980, in Trafalgar.

He was a 1979 graduate of Indian Creek High School.

He was a heavy equipment operator for the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 103 in Indianapolis, where he worked for Hunt Construction and previously for Central Engineering for 27 years.

He was an avid woodworker and fisherman. He enjoyed hunting and searching for morel mushrooms.

He very much enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, who knew him as “Pappy.”

Survivors include his wife, Cathy J. (Wilson) Martin of Nineveh; two daughters, Brandi J. Gray of Greenfield and Brittney J. Lee (Brandon) of Trafalgar; a son, Ethan O. Martin (Kirstie) of Edinburgh; his father, Ottis Martin, and stepmother, Becky Martin, of Nineveh; six grandchildren, Nathan Gray, Braiden Gray, Evan Gray, Caitlyn Gray, Brody Lee and Brantley Lee; paternal grandfather, Luther Martin of Liberty, Kentucky; mother-in-law, Judith Ramey (Joseph) of Nineveh; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Nellie (Ellison) Martin; brother, Patrick Martin; infant sister, Trenia Martin; grandparents, Pearl Martin, Delbert Ellison and Manilla Ellison; and father-in-law, Everett Wilson.

Michael Wilson and the Rev. Don Whetstine will conduct a service at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Swartz Family Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 300 S. Morton St. (U.S. 31 South) in Franklin. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the mortuary.
