Barbara Jean Lewis

Barbara Jean Lewis, 88, of Indianapolis, passed away on Friday, Aug. 12, 2016.

Barbara was born on Jan. 23, 1928, in Clinton County, to the late Allie G. and Lillian Roth Emery.

She was a secretary for the superintendent of the Perry Township schools from 1962 to 1977 and then an executive secretary of the CEO with Century 21 of Indiana from 1977 to 1989.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, C. Rex Lewis.

She is survived by her children, Terry (Penny) Lewis, Judith Lewis Moeller, Kathy (Mark) Lewis Pierce and Carol (Mike) Lewis Frazee; sister, Louise (Ken) Freeman; six grandchildren, Lisa (Steve) Wilson, Jennifer (Blake) Douthitt, Lori (Eric) Gillins, Amy (Jason) Casey, Lt. Cmdr. Ryan Pierce, Matthew Pierce; eight great-grandchildren, Autumn, Colton, Cheyenne, Rachel, Haylee, Rylee, Natalie and Daisy.

Calling hours will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Greenwood Chapel, 481 W. Main St. Blake Douthitt to officiate a funeral service at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.
