High school bands earn top honors

Multiple high school marching bands snagged the top spots at weekend competitions. All local bands earned a spot in the top five.

The Marching Woodmen and Irish Guard of Greenwood Community High School earned first place in Class B at the Concord Marching Band Invitational.

The band also earned awards for best music, visual and general effect.

Franklin Community High School’s Blue Regiment placed first in Scholastic Class A at the Lawrence Central High School invitational.

The band also earned caption awards for best music and best visual.

The Marching Trojans of Center Grove High School placed third at Lawrence Central High School and earned an award for best percussion.

Indian Creek High School’s Marching Braves performed at the Brownsburg Invitational and earned fourth place in Scholastic Class B.

Whiteland’s Marching Warriors earned fifth in Class A and earned the highest opening season scores in recent school history.

Bands from Greenwood, Whiteland, Indian Creek and Franklin will perform at Greenwood’s invitational this weekend. Center Grove will be at Avon High School.
