Home sales surged in August in Johnson County and across central Indiana.
Last month, 233 local homes sold, a nearly 24 percent increase from the same time last year.
And for the year, local home sales are up more than 6 percent, according to a report from Indianapolis real estate firm F.C. Tucker Co.
Across central Indiana, home sales were up 15 percent last month, and are also up 6 percent for the year so far, the report said.
The price those homes are selling for also is up. Last month, the average sales price in Johnson County was $186,250, which was up 5 percent from last year.
Across central Indiana, the average sales price was $187,372, which was an increase of nearly 2 percent from last year, the report said.
