Don’t be fooled by some of the false information on social media and elsewhere about how and when you can vote. If you want your vote to count, here’s what you need to know now.
• You cannot vote by text or email. We repeat: You cannot cast a ballot by texting or sending an email. Don’t fall for it. To vote in Johnson County, you have to go to one of the vote centers listed below.
• Early voting ends at noon today, Monday, Nov. 7, and polls open at 6 a.m. Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 8. The polls close at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8. Claims that you can vote at any other time or day are false. Think you can vote on Nov. 9? Plain and simple, you are wrong.
• Voting machines are not connected to the Internet.
- You can not vote on a paper ballot. Under state law, the county is not required to provide paper ballots, since Johnson County uses voting machines. No paper ballots will be available at vote centers. In order to vote on a paper ballot, voters had to follow the required state process for a mail-in ballot, and that deadline has passed.
