EDINBURGH
Samuel “Sam” Burton, 73 of Edinburgh, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016, at Community Hospital East Indianapolis.
He was born May 25, 1943, in Columbus. He was the son of Samuel W. and Lela (Burton) Burton. He married Sandy (Neer) Burton on Nov. 27, 1964.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Danny (Tammy) Burton of Edinburgh, Donnie (Gail) Burton of Edinburgh and Ronnie (Missy) Burton of Edinburgh; two sisters, Jane Burton of Edinburgh and Marcia Shewmake of Edinburgh; grandchildren, Tyler Burton, Jacob Burton, Tessa Burton, Corey Burton and Teah Burton; one great-grandson; and three step great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jerry Burton, Edward Burton, Calvin Burton and James W. Burton, sisters, Violetta Pruitt, Patsy Weaver and Jean Webber.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was an avid golfer, enjoyed fishing, hunting and auto racing.
The funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday by the Rev. Lewis Burton at Who-So-Ever-Will Community Church in Edinburgh. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on today and from 9:30 a.m. until time of service on Wednesday. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
