Rebels top Woodmen

Greenwood hosted Roncalli and New Palestine for its season-opening meet Tuesday and came away with a split, as the Rebels totaled 121 points to edge the Woodmen (111).

New Palestine finished third with 95 points.

Trojans fall to Panthers

The first meet of the year didn’t go as well as hoped for Center Grove, which fell 115-65 against a tough Bloomington South squad.

The Panthers took first place in every event on the evening.

Warriors roll in opener

Kylie Perry set one school record and narrowly missed out on another as the Whiteland girls blew past Mooresville, 140-41, in their first meet of the season Monday night.

Perry won the 200 individual medley in 2:19.43, the best in Warriors history, and her winning 500 freestyle time of 5:33.28 came up just short of another school mark.

Also picking up first-place finishes for Whiteland were Morgan Giroud (200 free, 100 butterfly), Gabbie Campbell (50 free), Averie Myers (100 free), Kenna Gough (100 back) and Lissy Vanette (100 breaststroke).

Perry also signed a letter of intent this week to swim at the University of Indianapolis.

Baseball

Brave gets national nod

Indian Creek baseball standout Wyatt Phillips was selected to participate in the Junior All-American Games, which will be held over Thanksgiving weekend at the Baltimore Orioles spring training complex in Sarasota, Florida. The event will feature top baseball players from more than 20 states across several age groups.

In addition to suiting up for the Braves in the spring, Phillips also plays club ball locally for the Indiana Knights, coached by Ryan Richardson.
