A man was charged with two felonies after police said DNA evidence linked him to a break-in at a New Whiteland home.
Jackson Gill, 19, Greenwood, was charged with burglary, theft and a misdemeanor charge of criminal mischief.
Police began investigating a break-in reported in October 2016, where a woman said someone had broken into her home, stole items from inside and left blood on her pillow, according to the police report.
The woman had loaned her vehicle to Gill, an acquaintance, and when he picked her up from work, she saw blood inside the vehicle and a bloody towel she recognized from her home, the report said. She asked Gill if he had been in her home, and he denied it.
After the woman dropped off Gill later that day at a relative’s home, she returned to her home in New Whiteland to found it had been burglarized, the report said.
A window was broken, and a gun, two televisions, two tables and a surround sound system were missing, the report said.
Investigators later found that Gill had tried to sell two televisions, the report said.
Gill declined to speak with investigators. Police got a warrant for his DNA and compared it to the blood the woman had found on her pillow, and Gill was a match, the report said.
Gill, 1172 Plymouth Rock Way, was arrested on a charge of burglary earlier this week and was being held in the Johnson County jail on $6,100 bond.
