Franciscan offering group for grieving children

A southside hospital is offering a support group for grieving children.

Caterpillar Kids is a free support program that provides learning experiences for children ages 5 to 12 who’ve experienced the death of a loved one.

The program meets for four consecutive weeks from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Wednesdays in April at Christ United Methodist Church, 8540 U.S. 31, Indianapolis.

A teen grief support group also will meet separately at the same time.

An adult bereavement group for the family will meet across the hall from the where the children participate; however, adults are not required to stay for those meetings.

Youngsters participate in storytelling, art projects, games and other sharing opportunities. Parents also are invited to participate in a concurrent session to assist them in supporting their children.
