County unemployment rate rose slightly

The county’s unemployment rate rose in February but is down from the same time last year.

In February, the unemployment rate in Johnson County was 3.1 percent, with 2,500 people out of work, according to data from the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.

The rate is up from January, when the county’s unemployment rate was 3 percent. But the number has dropped from the same time last year, when 3.6 percent of workers — or more than 2,800 people — were unemployed, according to the state data.

Statewide, the unemployment rate dropped to 3.2 percent in February, down from 3.3 percent in January and 3.7 percent in February 2017, the report said.
