One day after a thrilling extra-inning victory, Franklin fell into a big hole early and never recovered in a 10-1 loss at Mooresville.

Alec MacLennan hit a pair of doubles for the Grizzly Cubs (5-5, 1-1 Mid-State).

Trojans hammer North Central

An eight-run sixth inning closed the door on Center Grove’s 11-1 victory over North Central on Wednesday.

Josh Johnson was the winning pitcher and doubled for the Trojans (5-5, 3-3 MIC), who allowed just three hits while collecting 12.

Rebels blank Chatard

Max Lundy tossed a shutout as Roncalli beat Bishop Chatard 10-0 in five innings on Wednesday.

Braves top Shelbyville

Dawson Read hit a two-run homer and Dustin Sprong struck out 12 over five innings as Indian Creek beat Shelbyville, 4-2, on Tuesday. Jared DeHart picked up a save in relief of Sprong.

Softball

Woodmen handle Whiteland

Avenging a lopsided defeat from a day earlier, Greenwood picked up an 8-3 victory at Whiteland on Wednesday.

Dominique Proctor homered and scored three runs for the Woodmen, while Karlee Denham allowed just one earned run in the win.

Trojans keep on rolling

Abby Herbst tossed a one-hitter and Class 4A No. 1 Center Grove pounded out 20 hits against fifth-ranked Cathedral in an 11-0 rout on Wednesday.

Lexi Fair and Jordyn Rudd homered for the Trojans (11-0), who broke the game open with six runs in the third inning.

Grizzly Cubs handed league loss

After a narrow defeat Tuesday, Franklin absorbed a 12-1 defeat at Class 4A No. 7 Mooresville on Wednesday in Mid-State Conference action.

Emma Rutan and Carleigh Wilmore had two hits apiece for the Grizzly Cubs.

Rebels dominate against Guerin

Jordan Jenkins threw a one-hitter as Class 4A No. 6 Roncalli routed Guerin Catholic, 15-0, on Wednesday.

Wrestling

Warriors name new head coach

Whiteland announced the hiring of Travis Williams as its new wrestling coach on Wednesday.

Williams, who replaces Dave Thompson, comes to the Warriors after 11 seasons at Clifton Central High School in Illinois. He posted a 204-74 overall record with the Comets, with two of his wrestlers earning top-three state finishes this year. Williams will teach social studies at Whiteland.
