Paced by a blistering round of 33 from Sam Jean, Center Grove took care of Perry Meridian on Thursday, 146 to 163. Logan Anderson added a 36 for the Trojans, while Dylan Bonfield and Mitchel Sanders shot 38 and 39, respectively.

Grizzly Cubs take tough loss

Despite an 11-8 advantage in hits, Franklin was dealt a 5-3 defeat against Shelbyville on Thursday.

Riley King had three hits for the Grizzly Cubs, while Madi Fishel and Baylee Parker each added a pair.

Clark, Lancers no-hit Chargers

Maddi Clark pitched a no-hitter and struck out 18 batters as Edinburgh defeated North Decatur on Wednesday, 11-0, to start a home-and-home sweep.

Sidney Beier went 3 for 4 with a home run, three runs and three RBIs in the victory for the Class A No. 10 Lancers (5-2, 4-1 Mid-Hoosier), who followed with a 12-0 home win over the Chargers on Thursday.

Grizzly Cubs remain perfect

Franklin swept the singles points without dropping a game and remained unbeaten with a 5-0 sweep of Brown County on Thursday.

Kate Heuchan, Alexa Wilkison and Jaclyn Boardman each dominated their singles matches. Daryn Hyneman and Abi Smith won in straight sets at first doubles, while Rachael Pinnick and Allison Bennett did the same at No. 2.

Center Grove rips Flashes

A nine-run first inning was all Center Grove needed to roll past Franklin Central, 12-1, on Thursday.

Garett Hill hit a home run for the Trojans (6-5), while Michael Wyman had a pair of doubles.

Edinburgh settles for split

Ryan Gaston singled home Bryce Burton with the go-ahead run in the seventh inning, lifting Edinburgh to an 8-6 win at North Decatur on Wednesday.

The Lancers (3-4, 3-3 Mid-Hoosier) suffered an 8-4 home loss to the Chargers on Thursday despite a Zach Murphy home run.

Boys volleyball

Grizzly Cubs stage big comeback

Down two sets against eighth-ranked Noblesville on Wednesday, No. 9 Franklin stormed back for a 23-25, 22-25, 25-22, 26-24, 15-10 victory.

Owen Mahin (12), Sam Wood (11) and Josiah Rockey (10) had double-digit kills for the Grizzly Cubs (10-4), while Logan Snyder had 22 digs and Austin Sewell finished with 34 assists and five aces.

Franklin College

Softball team manages split

Alexis Tarver’s RBI single in the ninth inning made the difference as Franklin College won the first game of a Thursday doubleheader with Anderson, 10-6, before falling in the second game.

Natalie Weber homered and had three RBIs in the opener to help seal the win for Olivia Paszek (12-1).

Grace Paszek had three hits in the victory for the Grizzlies (20-6, 7-3 HCAC).
