Track and field

Franklin dominates Greensburg

The Franklin boys won every event but one in a 104-27 victory at Greensburg on Tuesday. The Grizzly Cubs also won the girls meet, 78-54.

Manny Cheam (discus, shot put) and Nick Riggles (110 and 300 hurdles) were double individual winners for the Franklin boys, who also got first-place finishes from Aaron Loos (100), Kamron Hill (200), David Purdy (400), Andrew Bixler (800), Ethan Pheifer (1,600), Drew McGaha (3,200) and Matt Frazier (pole vault).

For the girls, Cami Kelsay was a winner in the 200 and long jump. Also picking up individual victories were Kloie Doublin (100), Maggie Auger (400), Lauren Sandrock (300 hurdles), Lia Vawter (high jump) and Haydn Driver (pole vault).

Woodmen settle for split

Hanna Anderson swept the sprints to lead Greenwood to a three-way win over Decatur Central and Mooresville on Tuesday, while the Woodmen fell to the Hawks by one point in the boys meet.

Anderson won the 100, 200 and 400 meters for the girls, who also got individual wins from Ava Leininger (long jump), Janae Johnson (100 hurdles), Julia Arruda (3,200) in beating Mooresville by a 69-60 score.

The Greenwood boys were edged 61-60 despite first-place efforts from Nick Young (shot put), Ethan Haessig (long jump), Nick Patton (110 hurdles), Ethan Pine (1,600), Lex Logan (400), Conner Terhune (800) and Brandon Albin (3,200).

Grizzly Cubs win three-way

Led by rounds of 37 from Javan Johnson and Damon Dickey, Franklin posted a comfortable victory over Mooresville and Whiteland on Tuesday.

The Grizzly Cubs totaled 154, well ahead of the Pioneers (176) and Warriors (182).

Lancers third at home

Trinity Lutheran and Beech Grove defeated Edinburgh in a three-way match at Timbergate on Tuesday. Bladen Hancock shot a 40, the second-best overall score of the day, to lead the Lancers.

Miscellany

Greenwood grad wins national title

McKendree University senior Lindsey Raker, a Greenwood graduate, won a national championship in the 72-kilogram weight class at the USA Powerlifting Collegiate Nationals, which took place last weekend at Texas A&M University.

Raker, a three-year team captain, squatted 336 pounds, benched 180 and deadlifted 390 for a winning total of 906. She had finished third last year and fourth as a sophomore.
