Teen injured with ATV rolls twice

An 18-year-old female was injured when she lost control of the ATV she was operating and it flipped twice.

Samantha Stettler, 18, of McCordsville, had an injury to her forehead and had neck pain. She was taken to Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital.

The accident happened in the 6600 block of South Nineveh Road in Trafalgar about 8:40 p.m. Saturday.

Stettler was driving a Polaris Ranger with her 17-year-old boyfriend on the back. He told the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office that she took a corner too fast, and he told her to slow down, the report said.

She accidentally missed the brake and hit the gas, and the ATV began to slide, then rolled twice, he told the deputy.

The boyfriend said that Stettler was initially unresponsive, and he moved her from the wreckage and onto the grass, the report said.

He was also injured, with cuts to his arm, but he and his mother refused medical treatment for him.

They were not wearing helmets, the report said.
