Greenwood hires economic development director

A new city employee will be responsible for attracting additional businesses to Greenwood.

Greenwood Mayor Mark Myers hired Shayla Pulliam to be the city’s first director of economic development, a news release said.

The Greenwood City Council approved creating the new position last year, after Myers requested that it be added to assist his office in economic development efforts.

Pulliam’s responsibilities will include being the city’s primary contact for businesses and developers looking to relocate to Greenwood, coordinating efforts with other local economic development agencies and working on marketing efforts for the city. Her annual salary is $75,000.

Pulliam graduated from Purdue University with degrees in political science and sociology. She received her law degree from the Indiana University Maurer Schools of Law. Pulliam previously worked as a licensed domestic relations mediator for the Viola J. Taliaferro Family and Children Mediation Clinic at the IU Maurer School of Law in Bloomington, the release said.
