A Franklin man is in critical condition after a motorcycle crash on State Road 37.
Christopher Figg, 36, was riding a motorcycle north on State Road 37 near Bluff Acres Road around 4:30 p.m. Friday. A driver ahead of him, Mercadies Schommer, 24, of Evansville, moved into the left lane and slowed to make a turn, a Johnson County Sheriff’s Office report said.
Witnesses told police they saw Figg lose control of the motorcycle and hit Schommer’s car, the report said.
Schommer told police that she had moved into the left lane and slowed down in preparation for a left turn. When she saw the motorcyclist coming behind her, she tried to pull off into the grass, the report said.
Figg wasn’t wearing a helmet. He was taken to Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital for treatment of severe bleeding.
He was listed in critical condition as of Monday morning, a hospital spokesperson said.
