Local players taking part in showcase
Several Johnson County players will be among those participating in the upcoming IBCA/IHSAA Underclass Showcase events, which will be held at Ben Davis High School.
Among the 118 players expected to take part in the boys showcase on July 9 are incoming seniors Cory Richards and Reece Thomson of Franklin, Coltan Henderson of Edinburgh and Brennan Neal of Whiteland. Roncalli sophomore Johnny Brunk was also chosen.
For the girls showcase on July 16, Center Grove seniors Ella Thompson and Emma Utterback are among those slated to attend, along with Whiteland’s Megan Harlow. Roncalli junior Alana Vinson is also on the list of 110 girls.
Center Grove coach Kevin Stuckmeyer is on the girls coaching staff, while former Franklin coach Dave Clark will be working the boys event.

King on All-County team
When the All-County softball team ran in the Daily Journal last week, one first-team selection was inadvertently omitted:
Rilee King, Franklin senior: Versatile team leader batted .432 with three homers and 13 RBIs while anchoring Grizzly Cubs defense at third base. … Struck out 43 and walked just 11 in 14 pitching appearances.
