Woman arrested on neglect charge

A woman was arrested after she was found passed out at a Greenwood home with three children inside.

Elizabeth A. Bitner, 28, 115 E. 10th St., Anderson, was arrested on three charges of neglect of a dependent and a charge of disorderly conduct.

Johnson County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to the Glendale Mobile Home Park Community, off County Line Road, just before 10 a.m. Saturday on a report of a possible overdose. The deputy found Bitner passed out on the porch with a wine box and empty spray can of glue, according to the sheriff’s office report.

Inside the home were three children, a 3-month-old, a 2-year-old and a 4-year-old. A neighbor who called police said she had heard the infant crying from across the street. She found the baby on the couch inside with a blanket over it. Police found the other two children in a room sleeping on the floor, the report said.

Bitner told police she had drank wine and huffed glue, the report said.

Child protective services were contacted.

Bitner was taken to the hospital and then booked into the Johnson County jail, where she is being held on $9,200 bond.
