Representative wins business award

Rep. Trey Hollingsworth received the Guardian of Small Business Award from the National Federation of Independent Businesses.

The Guardian of Small Business Award is given to members of congress for their support of small businesses.

As a member of the House Financial Services Committee, Hollingsworth has authored multiple pieces of legislation that affect small businesses. These include the Improving Access to Capital Act, the Expanding Investment Opportunities Act and the Developing and Empowering our Aspiring Leaders Act.

Melinda Davis Secord, of Photography by Melinda, is celebrating 30 years in business.

Her studio is at 7440 Madison Ave., Indianapolis.

Franklin resident join real estate firm

A long time Franklin businessman and former mayor has joined a real estate firm.

Fred Paris is now a broker at Smythe & Company Inc.

He began his real estate career in 1978 with the Jim William’s Real Estate Company where he became a top agent. Paris developed and sold two real estate businesses over the years, spent time as a top agent with Remax and Coldwell Banker, and was a managing commercial Broker at Presnell Companies before becoming the city’s mayor.
