GREENWOOD
Doris Jayne Schroeder, of Greenwood, 93, passed away on Saturday, October 6, 2018. Born January 7, 1925 in Indianapolis, IN to the late Shirley Wasson Sr and Anna (Nied) Wasson, she was a 1943 graduate of Southport High School.
Doris was a member of Mt. Auburn United Methodist Church since 1959. She worked at Curtis Wright in the 1940’s, as the entire family participated in the war effort. She then worked at the Indianapolis Times and Star. After retiring she enjoyed working as a child care provider at the church.
Survivors include her son, David L. (Vicky) Schroeder; 4 grandchildren, Blake Schroeder, Lesley Pulse, Miranda and Kurt Schroeder; 3 great grandchildren, Emily, Elizabeth and Christopher Arnold. She was preceded in death by younger son, Daniel R. Schroeder, 2 brothers, Kenneth Wasson and Shirley Wasson, Jr and former husband, Donald Schroeder.
Visitation will be from 5-8 PM Wednesday, Oct 10 at G.H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home at The Gardens at Olive Branch, 1605 S. State Road 135. The funeral will be at 11:30 AM Thursday, Oct. 11 at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Washington Park East. Memorial contributions may be made to Mt, Auburn United Methodist Church.
