Janice Arbuckle

Janice Colleen (Long) Arbuckle, 90, was called home to heaven to be with her Savior on October 8, 2018. Janice was born March 12, 1928, the daughter of the late Floyd Maurice and Gladys (McDonald) Long, both of Shelbyville.

Janice graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1946. She married James M. Arbuckle on June 5, 1960 in Westchester, California. They lived in Cypress, California with their four children: Bruce (Karen) Oldham; Lucinda (Kenny) Kuhn; Guy (MaryJo) Oldham; and Rene’ (Rob) Spoon. They later returned to Indiana, splitting their time between Franklin and Sarasota, Florida.

Janice loved sunshine and the beach, and her favorite times were spent with her husband, children, grandchildren, sisters and friends. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, her warm heart and her wonderful sense of humor. Janice always loved children. Her favorite Bible verse was Matthew 19:14, “But Jesus said, ‘suffer little children and forbid them not to come unto me; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.”

Janice was employed as an executive legal secretary in Indianapolis, retiring in the late 1980s from the firm of Stark, Doninger, Mernitz and Smith.

Janice is survived by her husband, children, sisters: Sally (Robert) Walton and Shari (Joseph) Boyer; grandchildren, Jason (Chrissy) Oldham; Manda (Craig) Coy; Chad Oldham; Travis (Misti) Kuhn; Derrick (Tracie) Oldham; Molly (Ryan) Winzenread; and Emily (Jerad) Parker, and 21 great-grandchildren.

Visitation and services will be held at Bethel Holiness Church, 6060 N. U.S. Hwy 31, Columbus, IN 47201 on October 12, 2018. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. and will be followed by the service at 12 p.m. Officiating will be done by Pastor Nathan Shockley and Rev. Robert Thompson, retired. Graveside services will be held at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood following the service.
