James Donald “Don” Willis, 97, passed away on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at his residence in Bargersville.

He was born on September 25, 1921 in Sullivan, Indiana to the late James Donald and Ruth (Boling) Willis. He married Patricia (Swiggett) Willis on February 23, 1947. They celebrated sixty-seven years of marriage. She preceded him in passing on October 29, 2014.

Don is survived by their three children, Donna (Chris) McCarty of Franklin; Dianne Willis of Franklin and Todd (Becky) Willis of Greenwood; four grandchildren, Austin (Robin) Maguire of Franklin; Leigh Ann (Brandon) Knapp of Saylorsburg, Pennsylvania, Ben Willis of Greenwood and Jake (Megan) Willis of Greenwood; three great-grandchildren, Aidan, Addie & Ali; sister-in-law, Charlotte Morris and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in passing by two sons, David Gregory Willis and Troy Duane Willis; wife, Patricia and sister, Helen Morrison.

He was a 1948 graduate of Franklin College. Don was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II.

Don worked as an Insurance Claim Rep. for various companies over the years. He retired from Allstate in 1984 after twenty years of dedicated service.

He was a member of the Bargersville Christian Church. He also was a member of the Masonic Lodge and a past member of the American Legion.

He enjoyed playing Scrabble and adding the scores quicker than we could!

Our dad was always a happy, loving, compassionate and intelligent father, remembering people, dates and stories from childhood to the day he died. He loved visiting with his family and friends.

Friends and family may call on Monday, December 17 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 North Morton Street, (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Rev. Larry McAdams will conduct a graveside service immediately following visitation at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin. Military honors will conducted by the Franklin American Legion Post No. 205.
