Tear gas forces man out of hiding in Franklin home

Sheriff’s deputies used tear gas to force the man out of an attic of a Franklin home on Saturday.

The man had crawled through the window of a house in the 400 block of Hurricane Street and hid in the attic until police forced him out with tear gas, according to a police report.

Sean Paul Siegman Jr., 40, 82 Highland Avenue, was arrested on a felony warrant and a charge of resisting law enforcement.

About 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, a resident of the home told Franklin police that Siegman crawled through a window and was in the bathroom, according to a report from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies found insulation in the shower, which is where the home’s attic access was, and suspected Siegman had crawled into the attic and was hiding out.

Deputies called in a K9 who could not reach the attic, the report said. They then used tear gas to force Siegman out, which took several minutes. He ignored multiple commands from police, according to the report.

Siegman told deputies he passed out in the attic after coming into contact with an exposed electrical wire, the report said.

He is being held at the Johnson County jail without bond. He was wanted on a charge of probation violation after being convicted of a felony charge of possession of methamphetamine.
