Juvenile arrested after beating up a peer

A juvenile was arrested after police said he punched and kicked a peer so severely that he caused a head injury requiring medical treatment.

The juvenile was arrested at his home in Franklin after the incident, which occurred around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The Daily Journal does not name juveniles accused of crimes unless they are charged in adult court. The juvenile arrested was taken to the Juvenile Detention Center.

A woman in the 4000 block of Magnolia Drive called police and told them her son had been attacked by another boy. She told police that the juvenile came to her home and asked if her kids could come out and play with him, according to a report from the Franklin Police Department.

She told police that her son had been punched, knocked down and kicked in the sides and face by the boy, according to the report.

A witness told police that he saw the juvenile kick and knock down the boy and that the juvenile stopped after the witness stopped the attack. The witness also told police that he may have seen a second boy filming the attack. A second witness told police the same details of the actual attack, the report said.

A second boy admitted to being at the scene of the attack and filming it. The video was deleted, the report said.

The juvenile who attacked the child was arrested. The boy was taken to Johnson Memorial Hospital, where he was diagnosed with a chest wall contusion, hand contusion and head injury.
