Former Center Grove employee subject of criminal investigation

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a former Center Grove Schools employee for a financial crime involving the county’s largest school district.

School officials called the sheriff’s office and asked them to investigate a financial crime that involved the entire corporation rather than a specific school on April 23, Sheriff Duane Burgess said.

The sheriff’s office is not releasing any more details while the investigation is ongoing. No one has been arrested, Burgess said.

The school district e-mailed statements from Richard Arkanoff, superintendent of Center Grove Schools, informing parents that the school district was aware of an investigation involving a former employee and that they are cooperating with that investigation.

The last audit of the school district’s finances were released in March 2018. That audit started in July of 2015 and wrapped up in June of 2017.

Center Grove Schools did not immediately return a request for comment.
