Man charged with home burglary

A Franklin man is charged with burglary after police said he broke into a woman’s home and led police on a chase through a Greenwood neighborhood in February.

Bryon Lee Wright, 49, 2020 Franklin Cove Court, was arrested on charges of burglary, theft/receiving stolen property and resisting law enforcement on Feb. 28. He has been charged with burglary and his trial is scheduled for July.

Police were called to Waldon Drive in Greenwood in February on a report of a suspicious man, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Police discovered that a patio glass door was shattered and a man was seen running from the north side of the house, the affidavit said.

The man was running between homes and a witness told police that Wright was laying in bushes on her property, the affidavit said.

A K9 dog was searching the bushes when Wright put his hands up out of a basement window. Wright got out of the basement window and police found four necklaces and pills near the bushes where he was hiding. He was arrested.

He is currently facing a jury trial in July, according to court records.
